JANUARY 2004

09-JAN-04

We are delighted to announce that the club have agreed a new three year sponsorship deal with Pepsi.

This new contract will run from January 2004 to January 2007, showing the very positive comittment that Pepsi have in the future of our long term plans at this Club.

The Centre of Excellence for both boys and girls will benefit greatly from this huge cash injection, encouraging the young children's continued and sustained participation at the Club.

Football and clubs in general rely on many outside factors, e.g. all of our kids go to school, the majority have parents, brothers and sisters, they have friends or they may be involved in other sports, other activities. Each of these can be a supporting factor in them taking part in sport, but in today's economically minded market place , the ‘sponsor' is right up there in the premier league.

Speaking earlier today, Linfield Youth Development Officer, David Chisholm, said:

"I am a great believer in not taking the money and running. If you take that road then it is inevitable your sponsor will not renew. We at the Centre of Excellence believe we share a very rewarding partnership with Pepsi and will continue to embrace and enhance their wishes."

"In the past 3 years we taken the product we share with the sponsors to both Europe and the Republicof Ireland, and might I add very successfully. The short term plan in the summer is to compete in an international tournament in Italy at Easter 04 (u15/16s), moving on to the Netherlands at the end of May 04 with 2 squads (u10/12s), culminating in our u11s going to Scotland to compete against: Dundee Utd, Ross County and Dundee Youth Academies in June 04."

"The ultimate experience the kids will get from these ventures is obvious, but at what cost, how do you finance such tours, who picks up the bill ?"

"My personel gratitude and that of Linfield Football Club goes to the Trade Marketing Executive Claire Mara of Pepsi for her understanding, comittment and professionalism when entering into this contract on behalf of Cantrel & Cochrane. Their foresight and judgement is not misplaced. Their belief is similar to ours, excellent players are excellent people."

Pepsi...you couldn't have a better supporter ! Still thirsting for success.

For the home game with Portadown on Saturday, 10 January, Linfield will be pleased to welcome to Windsor Park as guests of the club, a group of young people  from Stramore Youth Club in Gilford.

The club have been visitors to Windsor Park before and we hope they will enjoy this visit as much as they have enjoyed their previous visits.
